Sunnyside is a multi-cultural neighborhood with an award-winning level of community involvement. Its progressive nature is due in large part to The Sunnyside Neighborhood Association of Flagstaff, Inc. (SNA).
The Arizona Daily Sun named the SNA “Organization of the Year” in 2005.
The Weed & Seed efforts of the Department of Justice was had great success in Sunnyside, and the SNA received national recognition with the program. In 2010 and 2011 they had the top Weed & Seed Site in the nation (out of 379). It was also the only resident-run site in the nation.

Provides residents greater access to information concerning the Sunnyside neighborhood and greater Flagstaff area (for example information regarding neighborhood meetings and special/culture events, areas of construction, promotion/location of area businesses, etc.). Provides programming in English, Spanish, and Navajo.
The second-most walkable neighborhood according to Walkscore, Sunnyside is close to shopping and restaurants. It is the first neighborhood east of downtown Flagstaff.

In Sunnyside, the community is actively involved in making it a better place. A few of the events and projects have included marketplaces, mural paintings, annual holiday socials, and candlelight vigils.
Restaurants
Just a few of the restaurants in and around the neighborhood include Hunan Restaurant East, a small and family friendly restaurant just off Route 66 in an older strip mall. Also known as a "locals" hangout for Chinese food. If you're looking for crafted BBQ and Cajun cooking drop by at Satchmo’s, it's just a small detour from the main road. You must try pizza with soppresetta, pistachio and honey at the Fat Olives.
