These stores have everything from baby items to hobby supplies this season.

 

The holiday spirit is in the air. I'm sure that you're as excited as I am as we prepare for the season. As a way of giving back to the community, I'm happy to give you a tour of five local shops owned by Amy Harrington in a plaza here at the corner of Route 66 and Steve's Boulevard. Each one has its own unique charm.

This is my way of supporting the community and acknowledging some of our local folks who are doing amazing things. These people are truly making a difference here, and this is a great little plaza because of them.

1. Babies to Kids. If you have kids or grandkids, you'll love this place. They sell baby clothes and a variety of toys. As a proud grandmother of 27 kids (yes, you read that right), I find myself here all the time, picking out gifts for my grandbabies. They even have an organized and color-coordinated section for gently used items. It’s a win-win for anyone looking for quality baby gear.

2. Mercantile Home Decor and Gifts. This is my go-to spot when I need a gift for clients or something special for my home. The shelves are packed with beautiful signs, candles, journals, and so much more. You could spend hours here just browsing. They even have local Flagstaff-themed T-shirts and mugs—perfect for gifts or a little self-indulgence.

 

3. Book Nest Toy Store. This place is a dream for grandparents and kids alike. It has specialty toys ranging from Legos to puzzles, there’s something for everyone.

 

4. Book Nest: Paint Your Own Pottery Studio. Located next to the toy store, you'll find this pottery studio where kids can paint their own mugs and other items. It’s a fun way to spend an afternoon and a great way for kids to get creative.

 

5. Northland Hobbies. Amy’s son, Christ owns this store which specializes in hobbies, offering everything from remote-controlled cars, planes, boats, model trains, and more. It’s the perfect spot for kids and adults who love to tinker and create. Some of my clients brought their items here for repair and they were very happy with the service.

 

I couldn’t help but feel grateful for places like this that bring our community together. These local businesses make our area special, and supporting them means supporting our friends and neighbors.
